The ITPL children’s room needs volunteers ages 10 and up to help process reports and give out prizes to children. Anyone interested can sign up in the children’s room from 3 to 9 p.m. Know your summer schedule as you will be choosing your hours upon sign up.

Movie: Spotlight
Come to the ITPL at 2 p.m. for a viewing of Spotlight, this year’s Academy Award winner for Best Picture. Spotlight tells the riveting true story of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Boston Globe investigation that would rock the city and cause a crisis in one of the world’s oldest and most trusted institutions. Starring Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton, Rachel McAdams, Liev Schreiber, Billy Crudup and Stanley Tucci. At 2 p.m. at the ITPL.

Playdate Fridays: Free Play Day
Visit the library every Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to see what fun the ITPL community room has in store. No registration required, all ages welcome.

Pastry Wars!
After some instruction, patrons will be placed in teams of two to create three different pastries that will be voted upon for creativity and palate. Do you have what it takes? The last team will win a prize from Chef Rob. Begins at 7 p.m. at the LPL.

Chess

Beekeeping
Moira Alexander is a local beekeeper who will help you understand why our native pollinators are in trouble. She will clarify some of the reasons that have contributed to their declining populations and how local property owners can impact their return. You will learn how to evaluate your own plants and landscaping designs as to their nutritional value and shelter for local patrons. Begins at 2 p.m. at the ITPL.LevLibCal_060116D

Medicare Made Easy
This seminar is designed to take the confusion out of all the options available so you are able to make choices that are right for you. We will review the basics of Medicare, supplementary insurance, advantage plans, prescription drug plans, “donut” hole, eligibility requirements and enrollment windows. Presented by Marie Cantone, a licensed insurance professional who advises her clients on Medicare issues. At 7 p.m. at the ITPL.

Introduction to Computers 1
For the computer novice, this class will get you started. Learn the basics right from the beginning: turning the computer on, using the desktop, working with the mouse, opening and closing programs, understanding windows elements, getting out of trouble, and turning the computer off. At 1 p.m. at the ITPL.

Alzheimer Screenings
Free 10-15 minute screenings will be performed by EAC and Alzheimer Foundation of America. Free information and advice will be offered by the experts on hand. Reservations can be made by calling 516-739-1700. Sponsored by Senator Kemp Hannon, with coordination of the library. From 10 a.m. to noon at the LPL.
