Three students from the Herricks Public Schools have received honorable mentions in the Child Abuse and Prevention Services (CAPS) 2016-2017 Bully Prevention and Poetry contest. The entries of Center Street School students Emilia Schneiderman and Trevor Yam and Denton Avenue student Elisavet Makridis were selected for recognition out of nearly 800 submissions.
According to CAPS, this annual competition gives students who participated in an anti-bullying program a creative opportunity to reinforce their understanding of the bully prevention lessons and strategies they learned and practiced in their CAPS classroom workshop.
