Winthrop-University Hospital’s Department of Neuroscience is offering support groups that are free and open to the public for individuals living with dystonia, epilepsy, and brain tumors. The department is also offering a Huntington’s Disease Caregiver Support Group.
All groups offer attendees the opportunity to share experiences, gain emotional support, learn about community resources, and practical tips for coping with their situations.
Occasionally, sessions will include guest speakers. Times, dates and locations are as follows:
• Brain Tumor: First Monday of the month from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Winthrop Wellness Pavilion, 1300 Franklin Ave., Suite ML-5 Garden City. Next dates: Aug. 1.
• Dystonia: Fourth Monday of the Month from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at at Winthrop Wellness Pavilion, 1300 Franklin Ave., Suite ML-5, Garden City. Next dates: June 27, July 25 and August 22.
• Epilepsy: Third Wednesday of the month from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Winthrop Research & Academic Center, 101 Mineola Blvd., Room G-020, Mineola. Next dates: July 20 and August 17.
• Huntington’s Disease: Second Monday of the month from 10 to 11:15 a.m. at the Winthrop Research & Academic Center, 101 Mineola Blvd., Room G-020, Mineola. Next dates: July 11 and August 8.
