Friday, June 10

Jump For Joy
Register for this fun exercise program running the Fridays of June 10 and 17 at 10 a.m. For ages 1½-4. Class size: 25.

Writing Club
The Hicksville Library Writing Club meets at 1:30 p.m. It offers a writing lesson, an in-class writing prompt, and the opportunity to read and critique both it and any longer pieces penned at home. Those with all levels of experience, including beginners, and interests in all genres are welcome.

Monday, June 13

Monday Movie
The library presents The 33, starring Antonio Banderas, at 1:30 p.m. Rated: PG-13, 127 minutes. Plot: Based on the 2010 copper and gold mine collapse in Chile, trapping 33 men underground. With more than 2,000 feet of rock in their way, members of a rescue team work tirelessly for 69 days to save the seemingly doomed crew.

Tuesday, June 14

That Old Time Music
At 1 p.m. there will be a program on popular singers of the ’20s and ’30s. Mel Haber hosts a multimedia presentation, discussing people like Louis Armstrong, Gene Austin, Eddie Cantor, and Ruth Etting, and hear songs such as “It’s Only a Paper Moon,” “My Blue Heaven,” “Mandy,” “Toot Toot Tootsie” and more. No registration required.

Yoga
Register online for this class running the Tuesdays of June 14 to August 30 at 5:30 p.m. No class on June 28 and Aug. 23. Fee is $30 check or money order made out to the Hicksville Public Library.

Family Fun Time
Register online for this two-session program being held the Tuesdays of June 14 and 21 at 7:15 p.m. For ages 1½-5. Some stories and a simple craft.

Wednesday, June 15

Board Meeting
The Hicksville Public Library Board of Trustees will meet at 7 p.m. at the Administration Building located at 120 Second St., Hicksville. The public is invited.

Painting Workshop
At 7 p.m., landscape artist Barbara Lewin leads the first of three-part a class (also on June 22 and July 6 at 7 p.m.) where she will guide participants step-by-step in painting a beautiful waterfall landscape scene with acrylic paint. No painting experience is necessary. Register online. Fee: $10 cash only. No refunds. Payment is due at the Reference Desk within 7 days of registering.

Seniorobics
Register at the library for classes running Thursdays from June 16 to July 28 at 1 p.m. No class on June 23. Fee: $21, check or money order for the six sessions.

Simply Stronger
Register at the library for classes running Thursdays from June 16 to July 28 at 2 p.m. No class on June 23. Fee: $21, check or money order for the six sessions.

Poetry Reading
Join the library at 6:30 p.m. for a free poetry reading where the community joins together to hear the spoken word. This event will feature poetry readers followed by an open mic session. No registration required.

Saturday, June 18

This six-hour course will help participants reduce their auto insurance and points on their license. Fee is $27 check or money order made payable to Empire Safety Council. Register at Reference Desk. Class limit: 40.
