Marc Courtade returns to the Jericho library for a program on the music of George Gershwin at 2 p.m. Gershwin remains one of the most popular American composers of all time. He contributed to Broadway, opera, film and classical music before passing at 39. This program examines the life and music of this creator of wonderful music.

Senior Citizen ID Card
Sponsored by the office of County Executive Ed Mangano, come to the Jericho library from 10 a.m. to noon to get a free senior identification card. The card will have your photo, name, address, phone number, birthdate and emergency contact. It is an important tool to have in case of an emergency. You must be 60 years or older to qualify.

The Syosset library welcomes guests for a free current events discussion with Michael D’Innocenzo at 2 p.m. D’Innocenzo is a distinguished professor emeritus of history at Hofstra University and is a board member of the Hofstra Center for Civic Engagement.

Richard Knox returns to the Syosset library for this free program at 2 p.m. Few American composers have contributed as much to Broadway and Hollywood musicals as Jerome Kern. With unforgettable songs such as “The Way You Look Tonight,” “All the Things You Are” and “Old Man River,” Kern has left an indelible mark on the history of popular music in America.

Death And Taxes
Rabbi Albert Lowenberg from Temple Emanu-El in East Meadow joins the Syosset library for Death And Taxes: Preparing For One, Avoiding The Other at 2 p.m. The rabbi says that “at some point in our lives most of us will need to make funeral arrangements. Death is a fact of life and preparing for the inevitable is not only wise, but can lighten the emotional and economic burden of a loved one’s passing.” Lowenberg will discuss only the practical aspects of making funeral arrangements rather than the ritual and religious aspects.
