From early June to the middle of September, Tanglewood—America’s leading summer music festival—will be presenting the highest level of musical performances on its beautiful Berkshire campus as diverse as the all-time Country Music star Dolly Parton on Friday, June 17, to Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony on Sunday, Aug. 28, and there will be lots of new programming and new performers.
Tanglewood, the Berkshires’ major cultural attraction, has an average annual attendance of more than 300,000 visitors and a $60 million impact on the local economy each summer. The festival presents orchestra concerts by the Boston Symphony, Boston Pops and visiting ensembles featuring many of the greatest classical musicians of our time.
With vision, Tanglewood offers free lawn tickets to children accompanied by their parents, ensuring a future audience for the world’s great music. There are discounted tickets for students, and even free offerings and yoga classes on the lawn on Saturday mornings given in conjunction with Kripalu; also, there are always the Saturday morning rehearsals that give insight into the ways great conductors shape the music for the Saturday and Sunday performances of the Boston Symphony, and admission to these rehearsals is $12.
