The artwork of MacArthur High School students Jillian Mullane and Shannon Scarano was chosen for competition in the Heckscher Museum of Art’s annual juried exhibition named Long Island’s Best: Young Artists at the Heckscher Museum. Mullane and Scarano, under the direction of teacher Rebecca Muir, submitted digital photography works titled “Intertwined” and “Society’s Perception,” respectively.
With a record setting 357 student works of art submitted from 53 Suffolk and Nassau county high schools, the juried selection narrowed the field to artworks created by 83 students representing 44 schools. Mullane’s and Scarano’s pieces were selected for exhibit and were featured at the museum in Huntington.
