Suzy Sikorski, a resident of Atlantic Beach, has been awarded the Fulbright Scholarship to the United Arab Emirates. Sikorski is the daughter of Bonnie and Len Sikorski of Atlantic Beach, granddaughter of Eleonore Sikorski of New Hyde Park, and niece of Ray Sikorski, former president of the Mineola/Garden City Rotary Club. In 2010, the Sikorski family was honored by the Mineola-Garden City Rotary Club with a Community Service Award or outstanding philanthropic work in the community.

This spring, Sikorski graduated summa cum laude from Fordham University majoring in Middle East Studies with minors in art history and French. In May, she was awarded the Fulbright Scholarship to the United Arab Emirates. There, she will conduct independent research on contemporary Emirati art history and artists. This will be a continuation of her thesis that she completed while traveling to the Middle East to work in the UAE at Art Dubai and Art for Tomorrow in Doha, Qatar. Sikorski departs for UAE for 10 months in September and will be publishing her interviews and artwork essays coinciding with the Sharjah Biennial taking place in March 2017. She is also a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy in West Hempstead and attended the Latin School at Kellenberg Memorial in Uniondale.
