A Hempstead man was arrested after burglarizing a Westbury home on Monday, June 20.
According to detectives, Third Precinct officers responded to a burglary in progress call at a residence on Aster Place South in Westbury. A description of the subject was transmitted over the radio at which time the officers observed the defendant Damien Onwubuemeli, 21, of Hempstead, at the corner of Old Country Road and Brooklyn Avenue. He was stopped and placed under arrest. The defendant was arrested at 1:10 p.m. and was found to be in possession of a laptop and a small safe which were determined to be proceeds from the burglary.
Onwubuemeli is charged with second-degree burglary. He was arraigned on Tuesday, June 21, at First District Court in Hempstead.
