The Great Neck Plaza Business Improvement District (BID) and the Village of Great Neck Plaza will be holding the first-ever Multicultural Fest on Sunday, June 26, from noon to 10 p.m.
The free, lively, family-friendly event, which will be held on Middle Neck Road between Grace Avenue and Maple Drive, will celebrate Great Neck’s diversity through dining, games, rides and live entertainment. Traffic will be diverted around this section of Middle Neck Road starting at 11 a.m.
“The diversity of cultures found in our region is, to a large extent, what makes Great Neck such a wonderful place to live,” said Ron Edelson, Great Neck Plaza BID executive director. “The Multicultural Fest, our very first, gives us a chance to celebrate this diversity and gives families a fun, cost-effective way to have a memorable day.”
Featured entertainment includes the Asian-American Circle of Unity, performing Asian music and ceremonial dance, from 1 to 3 p.m.; Katya’s School of Dance performing from 3 to 5 p.m.; Nina Et Cetera, regionally acclaimed for its unique covers of music spanning five decades, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.; and The Klezical Tradition, performing traditional and modern klezmer music, from 8 to 10 p.m.
Fun activities, such as bounce houses; Akbar the Caricaturist; Paulette Elkind, a noted face painter; and a Chinese name writer, will be available for free on a first-come first-served basis from 1 to 6 p.m. for children of all ages. Many plaza dining establishments will also be participating, including Chez Karma, Gino’s, Muzi, Burger Village and Häagen-Dazs.
