Hundreds of works featuring Division Avenue High School’s most dedicated and talented artists were on display during the 16th annual art show. Many of the photographs, sculptures, drawings and paintings were selected for exhibitions and scholarships across the region, including an All-County exhibit, Long Island’s Best and Advanced Visions 12: High School Artists of Excellence.
There were several additions to the show this year, including the works of former graduates and the new Studio in Media course, including stop motion animation, zoetropes and digital poster manipulations. Advanced Salk Middle School art students also showcased their work.
“The creation of each art piece was the product of dedication and commitment of both student and teacher,” said director of art, career and technical education Frank Creter.
In addition, the art show showcased a technology and engineering component with demonstrations by students enrolled in the Project Lead the Way Program. Under the direction of teacher Bob Bento, PLTW students displayed a simulated factory assembly line engineered during the Robots I class.
