A 43-year-old woman was killed and her father was injured when they were struck by an SUV, which then hit a house and car, while the pair was bicycling in the victim’s hometown of Hicksville.
Nassau County police said Cari Widmyer and her 72-year-old father were riding bicycles northbound on the side of New South Road when they were hit by a southbound Ford Explorer, which then struck a northbound Nissan Altima and a house at 2:40 pm Wednesday.
Widmyer was pronounced dead at the scene. Her father was taken to a local hospital, where he was treated for a knee injury and released.
The driver and passenger in the SUV were treated for contusions. The other driver was not injured. The house incurred extensive damage.
Homicide Squad detectives impounded the SUV and are continuing the investigation but the SUV driver was not charged.
