Sewanhaka High School recently announced its first National Social Studies Honor Society induction. The sponsoring honor society is Rho Kappa. Membership in Rho Kappa provides national recognition for outstanding students. Rho Kappa encourages an interest in, understanding of and appreciation for history, economics, humanities and social studies.
In all, 20 students—15 seniors and five juniors—met the criteria and were inducted. In order to be eligible, students must achieve an average of above 90, be an active participant in either Sewanhaka High School’s Model United Nations or Mock Trial clubs and show good character, leadership and dedication to the pursuit of social studies.

At the induction event, students credited their teacher, Model UN adviser and Social Studies Rho Kappa adviser Michael Sakowich, for his willingness to put in the time and effort with his students so that they may have success.
