Filming The TV Land Show “Younger”

Film crews were on hand early Friday morning in Port Washington on the corner of Main Street and Shore Road to film the TV Land show Younger. The show is a comedy-drama television series based on the novel by Pamela Redmond Satran. The series stars Sutton Foster as the lead character, with Hilary Duff, Debi Mazar, Miriam Shor, Nico Totorella, Molly Bernard and Peter Hermann.

For those who aren’t familiar with the show, Younger follows 40-year-old Liza, played by Foster, a suddenly single mother who tries to get back into the working world, only to find it’s nearly impossible to start at the bottom at her age. Her best friend comes up with the idea of giving Liza a makeover in order to pass her off as a 26-year-old. Ultimately, she becomes an assistant to Diana Trout (Miriam Shor) at the publishing firm Empirical Press, where she befriends Kelsey Peters (Hilary Duff), her 20-something co-worker.

Police were on hand to ensure cast and crew were safe during the morning summer rush hour. The staging was in front of the Dolphin Bookshop with scores of cameras and technical crew stationed around. Trailers were parked at the Town Dock and in the parking area in the rear of the bookstore.

Traffic was moving through the area despite the filming.

According to a member of the film crew, the shooting took place only during the daytime on Friday. Deputy Chief Delmuro of the Port Washington Police Department said the filming occurred on Thursday at Sands Point Preserve and Friday in Port.

According to Fred Haynes, “I grew up in Port and returned. Where they are filming was where the first payphone was installed.”
Suzanne Markham Bagnera shared, “that corner (where they filmed) was called Bayles Corner where the original Bayles Pharmacy location stood.” The original phone number was Flushing 45.
