The Community Church Nursery School recently had its annual spring concert and graduation. The youngest students moved up to their next level and the Class of 2016 had 42 little graduates.
The Reverend Dr. Ian Rottenberg, teaching pastor of the Garden City Community Church, joined the celebration to lead the children and families in prayer.
The theme for the spring concert was “A Little Broadway,” with piano accompaniment by Director of Music Janet Rosano. Families and friends were delighted with songs such as “Getting to Know You” from The King and I, “Happy Face” from Bye Bye Birdie, “I Won’t Grow Up” from Peter Pan, along with a Mary Poppins medley.
“The children really enjoyed learning some Broadway show tunes this year,” Community Church Nursery School Director Cathie McCullough said. “They sang with gusto and we’re pretty sure we have some future Broadway stars. The end of the year is always bittersweet. We are so proud of our graduating students, but we’ll really miss their smiles and laughter as they head off to kindergarten.”
The graduation ceremony was followed by a lovely celebration for family and friends on the school playground.
There are limited openings for two, three and four-year-old classes for the 2016-17 school year.
