Police Report: July 12 to July 19

July 12
A male suspect purchased four $100 gift cards at a Garden City Plaza restaurant using a forged credit card.

Officers investigated a two-vehicle crash on Stewart Avenue where a witness states a tan pick-up sideswiped a vehicle waiting at a traffic light at the intersection of Edgemere Road before fleeing the scene. Two male victims inside the sideswiped vehicle suffered face and neck injuries; they were transported to a local hospital for medical attention.

July 14
A bicycle was reported stolen from a Pine Street residential driveway.

July 15
Officers and Garden City firefighters responded to a fire in the sump area behind Garden City High School. The fire fighters were able to control and extinguish the fire. Upon investigation and search of the area, Officers Russell and Reilly arrested a 16-year-old male and a 15-year-old juvenile, both from Garden City, for arson.

July 16
Officers and detectives investigated a reported burglary at a Meadow Street residence. Entry into the residence appeared to be through a first-floor window, where an air conditioner was found pushed in. Stolen items included electronic equipment. The investigation is continuing.

Officer Pumilia arrested a 32-year-old Mineola male on Washington Avenue for DWI and unsafe lane changes. The subject was charged with felony DWI due to a prior arrest for the same offense.

Upon investigating a suspicious person in the vicinity of hedges on Second Street, Officer Dallolio arrested a 16-year-old Garden City male for possession of marijuana.

Garden City detectives conducted an investigation on Hilton Avenue resulting in the arrest of a 27-year-old Queens female for possession of heroin. She was charged with possession of a controlled substance.

An 18-year-old Garden City male was issued an appearance ticket on Kildare Road for possession of alcohol (beer).

July 17
Electronic equipment was reported stolen from a vehicle parked at a Meadow Street residence.

July 18
A 20-year-old Hempstead male and a 19-year-old West Hempstead male were issued appearance tickets for trespassing in Community Park after closing hours.

Money was removed from a pocketbook which was accidentally left in a dressing room at Sears.

July 19
A 34-year-old Queens male entered Garden City Police Headquarters and approached the front desk to ask some questions. Sergeant Braun, the desk officer, recognized the subject as wanted by the Port Washington Police Department for a robbery that occurred in April at a café. The subject was placed under arrest and subsequently turned over to detectives from the Port Washington Police Department.

Officers were assigned traffic details due to extensive delays at the New Hyde Park railroad crossing due to a train accident in Queens.
