Bike Safety Rodeo Program
This free program featuring bicycles and safety tips for children in kindergarten through junior high will run from 9 a.m. to noon. Children must bring their own bike. Safety rules are discussed and bikes will be checked for safety. Free helmets will be distributed as well as reflective vests and other items. An adult must accompany the child. Rabies Clinic
On Sept. 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Last Hope Animal Rescue (www.lasthopeanimalrescue.org) will be holding a free rabies vaccine clinic for dogs and cats at the Last Hope Adoption Center, 3300 Beltagh Ave., Wantagh 11793. All Long Island pet owners are eligible; no appointment necessary, but all pets must be at least 4 months old. Dogs must be leashed, and cats need to be in carriers. Dogs must be dog and people-friendly. Bring paper certificate proof of a recent rabies shot, if you are planning on asking for a 3-year, rather than 1-year rabies vaccine certificate for your dog or cat. The Levittown Community Council meets the fourth Monday of every month at the Levittown Public Library at 7:30 p.m. Meetings are open to the public and free.
