BeachFeast will be returning to North Hempstead Beach Park on Saturday, Sept. 17, from 12 to 5 p.m. The food and spirits festival will feature food trucks, wine and beer, a classic car show, live music along the boardwalk, a GameTruck and information about the new Solarize North Hempstead program.

“BeachFeast is a great opportunity to enjoy one last day on the beach this summer season,” said Supervisor Judi Bosworth. “I am looking forward to joining our residents and sampling selections from delicious food vendors and enjoying music from this year’s incredible performers.”

Residents will be able to purchase an eclectic mix of culinary delights and spirits from vendors as three bands perform: Jessie’s Girl, an ’80s cover band; Kamellot, a classic rock band; and Tiger Rose, a Jerry Garcia Tribute band. Plus, a GameTruck will provide video games for children and will be broadcasting college football games.

Solarize will kick off during the event, when partner companies offer information about the benefits of going solar.

“We know that many property owners don’t know where to start when they want to install solar panels,” said Bosworth. “The Solarize initiative is a great way for us to help our local businesses and residents make contact with reputable local companies, and to install solar energy at low cost.”

After an extensive prequalification process, several companies have been selected to provide free site assessments and special incentives and discounts, including SUNation Solar Systems of Ronkonkoma and SunPower by EmPower Solar of Island Park for residential installation, and SUNation Solar Systems and GreenLogic of Roslyn Heights for commercial installations.

Through the Long Island Green Homes program (www.longislandgreenhomes.org, 800-567-2850), residents are eligible for free or reduced-cost energy audits, and for assistance with incentives and rebates for energy-efficiency work. The Solarize program (www.northhempsteadny.gov/solarize, 516-869-6311), which will be available until Dec. 31, will help homeowners and businesses get their energy from renewable resources.

BeachFeast is free with a parking fee of $10 in cash or $7 for debit or credit card payments. For more information, call 311 or 516-869-6311.
