Officers assisted the Garden City Fire Department, who extinguished a small fire in the vicinity of the railroad tracks on Saint James Street South.

Sept. 1

Officers investigated a report of a burglary of a Roxbury Road residence. Resident reports the theft of jewelry and other personal items from a bedroom. Entry was apparently through an unlocked door. The investigation is ongoing.

Officers safeguarded Arthur Street, where a tree fell across the roadway.

The department is investigating an identity theft report. An unknown person attempted to open a credit card account using a resident’s personal information.

Sept. 3

Officer Dallolio arrested a male, 48, from Hempstead on 1st Street for DWI and two unsafe lane violations.

As a result of an investigation on 7th Street, Garden City detectives arrested a female, 59, from Mineola for criminal sale of a controlled substance (allegedly OxyContin), and possession of a controlled substance (allegedly Xanax).

Sept. 4

Sunglasses and a GPS were reported stolen from a vehicle parked at a Sunset Lane residence.

A table saw was stolen from the rear yard of a Meadow Street residence. The subject discarded the saw on Meadow Place upon realizing that an alert neighbor had observed the theft and was following him.

Sept. 5

Officer Bandl arrested a female, 27,  from Mastic on Clinton Road and Pine Street for DWI, speeding and unsafe lane usage.

Officer Pumilia arrested a male, 23, from Queens on Washington Avenue for driving with a suspended license, possession of marijuana and speeding.

Officers investigated the theft of a wallet from a customer who was shopping at Walgreens on Franklin Avenue.

Officers investigated criminal mischief to equipment, water valves and a work shed on the property of the Garden City Country Club.

Sept. 6

A Dodge Durango was reported stolen from the rear of a Franklin Avenue Medical Center.

Officers investigated an attempted burglary at a Barnes Lane residence. A window pane and lock to a rear window was found broken. There was no entry into the residence. The investigation is ongoing.
