The Step by Step Dance Company, based on Main Street in Farmingdale, had a very busy summer. Dancers lit up the faces of seniors at the Farmingdale Adult Day Care Center, and the audience was happy when the girls asked the seniors to join in and dance. Then they traveled to St. Luke’s, where they caught the eyes of the little ones.
“Just seeing the expressions on the children’s faces when the girls were singing and dancing was priceless,” said an observer. The dancers and their guardians also shuffled off to Hershey Park (pictured) where they performed at the outside theater. The crowd was cheering all the girls on and the Jazz number “Jet Set” was like a Broadway act.
Turning serious, they ran a food drive for the St. Kilian’s Outreach Pantry, and collected a large amount of food that carried the pantry over through the slow summer months. “These girls are a very special group. The director Sharon Bartlett instills the importance of helping others and paying it forward…This is much more than dance lessons; these are life lessons,” said Lillian James.
