Knife-Wielding Clown Menaces Boy in Lakeview, Cops Say

clown sightings

A knife-wielding clown approached a 14-year-old boy walking through Lakeview on his way home from Malverne High School on Wednesday afternoon, Nassau County police said.

The boy reported that the clown approached him from behind while he crossed through an opening in the fence at the dead end of Clinton Avenue, which leads into a grassy alleyway to Jefferson Avenue, shortly after 3 p.m., police said.

The person was described as 6-feet tall with a thin build wearing a purple clown costume with a white mask, red wig and had a large kitchen knife, police said.

The boy ran through the alleyway onto Jefferson Avenue and continued onto Langdon Boulevard when he noticed the clown was no longer there, police said.

The incident is the latest since in a string of recent clown-related scares on Long Island, statewide and nationwide, including a few that have resulted in school lockdowns.

Fifth Squad detectives request anyone with information regarding the Lakeview incident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
