The Manhasset Plandome Newcomers Club (MPNC) is starting off the 2016-17 year with a Ladies’ Autumn Kick-off event this Thursday, Oct. 6. The club was formed in 1977 and has been bringing neighbors together for almost 40 years. While the club’s mission is to welcome newcomers to Manhasset, all residents of the town are welcome to join.
The MPNC organizes local events, both formal and casual, throughout the year to give its members an opportunity to build friendships and get to know the community. Co-presidents Kim-Ly Moynihan and Emily Wallace look forward to welcoming new and returning members to another exciting year at the MPNC. Highlights of the coming year’s events include a Couples’ Kick-off event, Men’s Thursday Night Football events, a Ladies’ Fitness night, the Second Annual Couples’ Valentine event and the Annual Progressive dinner.
“Moving to a new town can be disorienting. I think we are very lucky to have a club like the MPNC to ease the transition and provide opportunities to meet other locals,” said Wallace. “There is something very special about this club. You will undoubtedly meet someone in town who has been a member and made their closest friends through the club. We actually had a lady join us for the Progressive Dinner this year who attended the dinner over 30 years ago when she first moved to Manhasset,” said Moynihan.
Moynihan and Wallace are excited for the upcoming year. “We have a lot of momentum from the previous year that we hope to carry forward. Our couples events were very popular and we are looking to expand our men’s events and monthly neighborhood socials,” said Wallace. “We are really looking forward to kicking off the new year and sharing what we have in store for our members this year. The Newcomers Club is a really wonderful organization and we are so happy to be keeping its traditions alive,” said Moynihan.
