Anthony F. Lotruglio, 77, passed away on October 13, 2016 surrounded by his family at his home in Manhasset, NY. He was born on November 14, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY to Baldassare and Josephine Lotruglio.
Tony grew up in Brooklyn, NY. He graduated from Stuyvesant High School in New York, NY. After high school he attended Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA where he received a B.A. in History in 1959. After graduating college, he continued to pursue his education and received an MBA in Investing from New York University in 1962 and a Ph.D. from the Open University of America in 1977, having written a dissertation on a systems approach to monitoring pension plans. He held a Certified Financial Planning Degree from the College of Financial Planning and a Certificate in Investment Banking from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He was an Adjunct Professor of Banking and Finance at New York University and a member of Mensa International, the high IQ society.
Tony enjoyed a 58-year career on Wall Street which he started in 1959 as a page at the NYSE. He then moved to the securities firm Bache& Company which would eventually be acquired by Prudential Securities. At Bache, he began as an OTC trader of bank and insurance stocks and an assistant manager in the Options Department. He moved on to become an institutional salesman and then became national institution equity sales manager. For a time, he ran what was then one of the largest silver commodity programs in the US. In 1975, he became head of Bache’s embryonic pension consulting group and in 1978 joined Moore, Schley, & Cameron as director of pension services. Then he joined Franklin Society Savings & Loan in NY as a senior vice president and chief investment officer. At Noyes Partners, he served as Managing Director. In 1981, he founded the investment consulting firm, Quan-Vest Consultants, Inc., which he continued to serve as Chairman until his passing.
Tony married Sara Perniciaro in 1964 in Queens, NY. They were happily married for 52 years. They moved to Manhasset, NY in 1968 where he still resided. Tony was an active member of his community, serving as a member and president of Strathmore Vanderbilt Country Club in Manhasset, NY, a trustee of the School of the Holy Child in Old Westbury, NY, a member of the executive advisory committee for the Board of Child Abuse Prevention Services, and a platoon leader in the New York State National Guard and a member of the Selective Services Board. He enjoyed travel, reading, and playing golf which he describes himself as the world’s worst golfer. He was a member of Wheatley Hills Golf Club in East Williston, NY and Eagle Creek Golf & Country Club in Naples, Florida.
Tony is survived by his spouse Sara, his two sons, Anthony and his wife Elaine who reside in Saratoga Springs, NY and Mark and his wife Helena who reside in Manhasset, NY, and his five grandchildren Luca, Kian, Aidan, Massimo, and Lauren.
A funeral service will be held at Fairchild Sons, 1570 Northern Boulevard, Manhasset, NY, on Sunday, October 16, 2016 from 3:00 – 5:00 pm and 7:00 – 9:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Roman Catholic Church of St. Mary, 1300 Northern Boulevard, Manhasset, NY 11030, on Monday, October 17, 2016 at 11:30 am. Burial will follow the funeral at Nassau Knolls Cemetery in Port Washington, NY.
