October is Fire Prevention Month and the Great Neck Alert Fire Company will be welcoming the public to an Open House on Sunday, Oct. 30, from 12 to 4 p.m. at the company’s headquarters, located at 555 Middle Neck Rd.
Volunteer firefighters will show how special tools and equipment are used to protect the Great Neck community. A demonstration of
the fire company’s new burn trailer—a multiroom, multipurpose portable training facility that provides real flame, simulating the effects of a real-life house fire—will also be given.
Important information on fire safety and prevention will be distributed. Company officers and volunteer firefighters will be on hand to answer questions and provide information for those interested in becoming members. Refreshments will be served, plus there will be giveaways for kids.
The Great Neck Alert Fire Company, which has been providing volunteer service to the community for more than 100 years, has 150 dedicated members who proudly provide fire protection and rescue services to the residents of Great Neck.
