Independent Candidate Douglas (Gee-Kang) Hwee won Varda Solomon’s Great Neck Library expiring Board of Trustees seat on Oct. 31 with 275 votes. Solomon, the Nominating Committee candidate, received 218 votes.
In the uncontested election for Josie Pizer’s expiring seat, Rebecca Miller received 296 votes. The two four-year terms will run from January 2017 to January 2021.
Patrick McDonnell received 321 votes in the uncontested election to Nominating Committee for the expiring seat of Michael Katz. The position’s three-year term runs from January 2017 to January 2020. All three candidates will take office at the Library Association Annual Reorganization Meeting on Jan. 17, 2017.
Both proposals passed unanimously with 240 Yes votes. Voting No to Proposal 1 were 54 voters and 49 to Proposal 2. The change will create a Nominating Committee that is elected solely by the community.
