Today is Election Day, Nov. 8, and poles are open in Manhasset until 9 p.m. tonight.Voters will determine the next president of the United States, our local New York State Senator, New York State Assemblyman, U.S. Congressman and district court judges.
Public Schools are closed. All registered voters should have received a postcard from the Nassau County Board of Elections that informs you where your polling station is.
Most residents will vote nearby. Check your card or go to www.voterlookup.elections.state.ny.us. to determine your polling location.
Manhasset resident and Mayor of Flower Hill Elaine Phillips is running for New York State Senate against Adam Haber. Senator Jack Martins is the incumbent and not running for re-election to the Senate, instead he is running for the Congressional seat held by Steve Israel who is retiring. He faces a tough opponent, Tom Suozzi, who is the Democratic candidate.
