The Great Neck Spirits, a recreational sports team for individuals with disabilities, just kicked off its 23rd season. This year, the program takes a new direction through a partnership with Community Mainstreaming Associates (CMA), a Long Island–based nonprofit organization that has been committed to helping people with intellectual and developmental disabilities lead meaningful, productive lives within their communities for more than three decades. Run by coaches and high school volunteers, the Spirits’ coaching staff consists of Jordana Cohen, Diane Polland, Ed Fernbach, Alan Someck, Jackie Mazur, Stacey Parisi and Don Williams.
