Just in time for the holiday season, Lord & Taylor unveiled significant upgrades to its Garden City location that was revealed at a celebrity-studded grand reopening on Wednesday, Nov. 9. On hand to help with the ribbon-cutting were supermodel Christie Brinkley, daughter Sailor Brinkley Cook and animal rights activist Beth Ostrovsky Stern. Customers were introduced to a number of new clothing and product lines being introduced for women (IMNYC, Isaac Mizrahi, H Halston, Highline Collective, Karl Lagerfeld Paris, Diane Von Furstenberg, Kendall + Kylie, Vince, Miss Selfridge, Design Lab Lord & Taylor and Marmot) and for men (Michael Kors, Brooks Brothers, Red Fleece, Hugo Boss Green, Bugatti, Strellson, Ted Baker London, Selected, Homme, Jack & Jones and more).
The Garden City renovation touched all areas of the two-level, freestanding building. Both floors received upgrades to flooring, lighting and fitting rooms. Call buttons have been added to the fitting rooms, connecting to associates headsets, allowing customers to receive assistance quickly. In addition to a new men’s environment on the upper level, the cosmetics area on the lower level has been enlarged and enhanced with a new spa room and several new brands, including Flawless by Friday, Brow Gal and Fillerina. There is also a Rebecca Minkoff pop-up shop on the lower level.
To elevate service and allow for a more seamless shopping experience, Lord & Taylor added two personal shoppers, one to assist with men’s and the other to assist with all shopping needs. Sarabeth’s at Lord & Taylor Garden City received a modern makeover as well.
The renovation exposed the building’s original exterior windows as well as an atrium inside of the main entrance, offering the store more natural light while honoring its mid-century heritage. The exterior of the building also has the new, modernized Lord & Taylor logo. A portion of sales from the evening benefited Life’s WORC Family Center for Autism and North Shore Animal League America.
