Claire “Skeets” Wolf Gerber Gould, 91, lost her heroic 9-year battle with anal cancer on Oct. 5.
She was born in Brooklyn on Aug. 11, 1925, to the late Herb and Ted Wolf. She is survived by siblings Jerry and Mickey Wolf; children Nonnie, Wendy, Ron and Andrea Gerber; grandchildren Alexander, Samantha and Jaxie Friedman; and Harry, Amanda and Sydney Gerber. She is predeceased by husbands Harold Wolf Gerber and Kal Gould.
She was an alum of Erasmus Hall High School, Penn State and University of Wisconsin at Madison. A longtime Great Neck and Kings Point resident, she was founding president of the American Cancer Society Great Neck branch from 1973–79 and involved in the “21” Club Public Relations, American Express Direct Marketing, First Investors Corp., campaign manager and real estate sales. She loved bridge, tennis, Frank Sinatra and her children and grandchildren.
She was an inspiration to her family and will be missed every day, especially this Thanksgiving. Here’s to her loving heart, caring soul, worrying mind, sharp wit and indomitable spirit.
In recognition of her WWII Army Air Forces Aircraft Warning Service, an honor guard detail will perform military funeral honors graveside at New Montefiore Cemetery in West Babylon at 11 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day.
