Reach Out America (ROA) will be presenting Ready for Everything: Facing Challenges to Civil Liberties, on Wednesday, Jan. 11, at 12:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at 48 Shelter Rock Rd. in Manhasset.
Susan Gottehrer, an activist and director of Nassau County New York Civil Liberties Union, will share her deep knowledge of the ongoing struggle for civil liberties. Gottehrer holds graduate degrees from Columbia University, the New School for Social Research and New York University.

ROA will be introducing a socially conscious movie series in 2017 and invites the community to the free screenings and subsequent discussion at 6:45 p.m. in the newly renovated Main Branch of the Great Neck Library at 159 Bayview Ave.
On Jan. 5, the group will be screening What’s the Matter with Kansas? with unforgettable characters that shed light on our nation’s political divide. Distinguished Hofstra history professor Michael D’Innocenzo will moderate. On Feb. 16, An American Mosque will be screened, where arson inspires an examination of the battle against tolerance in a rural California town. In Power to the Pedals and Marion Stoddard on March 2, two environmental pioneers prove that one person can make a difference; and on April 6, The Waiting Room will show an American public hospital struggling to care for the uninsured.
