Lake Success Chabad Launches Kids Cooking Club

chabadcooking_011117-aLake Success Chabad’s Kids in the Kosher Kitchen brings together children from all around Great Neck so they can learn cooking and baking basics. Last month, more than 50 children learned how to bake sufganiot, the traditional fried doughnut eaten on Hanukkah. The children also learned how to make a Hawaiian-themed doughnut, a French-themed doughnut and a doughnut lollipop.

chabadcooking_011117-e“Cooking is a life skill that no one is ever too young to learn,” said Rabbi Dovid and Chumy Ezagui of Lake Success Chabad, who started the club. “Cooking and baking also provides instant feedback, which helps children learn and grow in self-knowledge,” they continued. “Learning a new skill also boosts healthy self-esteem development.”

chabadcooking_011117-bKids in the Kosher Kitchen meets each month, where children will learn how to cook and bake a new dish. On Sunday, Jan. 15, the children will learn how to prepare and braid challah dough and will squeeze grapes in a wine press to make grape juice.

chabadcooking_011117-cThe club is open for all children to enjoy and no membership or affiliation is required. For more information or to reserve a spot, visit www.myjle.com/kitchen.chabadcooking_011117-dchabadcooking_011117-f
