Alana Mutum returns to the Great Neck Library after having served as a librarian, by being tasked with the role of filling Ruth Klement’s position at the Lakeville Branch. As librarian, she provided reference and reader’s-advisory services to patrons and promoted library services and programs, including the e-book and foreign-language collections. She also developed programming with 3D printing, pens and other emerging technology for children and teens, and provided community outreach through street fairs, school visits and the development of promotional materials. Prior to returning to the Great Neck Library, Mutum served as a senior children’s librarian 1 at the Queens Borough Public Library.
Mutum received her Masters of Library and Information Sciences from Queens College in 2016 and holds a Public Librarian’s Professional Certification from the New York State Education Department. Her Bachelor of Science degree is in computer science with a concentration in business, and she is currently pursuing a Masters of Public Administration through Arkansas State University’s online MPA program.
The Great Neck Library administration, staff and board of trustees wish Mutum the very best in her new position at the Lakeville Branch.
