75 employers expected at Farmingdale Hire Our Heroes Job Fair for veterans
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced today that the New York National Guard will host a U.S. Chamber of Commerce Hiring Our Heroes Job Fair at the Farmingdale Armed Forces Reserve Center at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 13. A total of 75 employers offering more than 350 jobs to veterans and their families will participate in the event.
“New York is forever grateful to the brave men and women who have sacrificed so much for this state and this nation—and connecting Long Island veterans with businesses from across the region is one small way to thank them for their service,” Governor Cuomo said. “I encourage all members of the armed services and their spouses to visit the Long Island Hiring Our Heroes Job Fair and see what opportunities are available to them.”
The Hiring Our Heroes job fair will feature 75 businesses from across the region, including Delta Airlines, GE Aviation, GEICO, Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, Home Depot, Northwestern Mutual and more. The job fair will take place 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, and is open to veterans and members of the National Guard and Reserve, as well as military spouses. An employment workshop will also be available to job seekers before the career fair at 8:30 a.m., which will focus on resume writing, interview skills, and job search techniques.
The employment workshop and job fair will take place at the Farmingdale Armed Forces Reserve Center located at 25 Baiting Place Road in Farmingdale. Those interested in attending the job fair or the employment workshops must register online here.
Major General Anthony German, the commander of the New York Air National Guard will represent the New York National Guard at the event, as well as retired Command Sgt. Major, Robert Van Pelt. Van Pelt works to help New York National Guard Soldiers and Airmen find full-time jobs which allow them to continue their part-time military service.
Since 2011, in partnership with the New York National Guard, the Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce has conducted 25 hiring fairs across New York State. This event will be the 4th event in Farmingdale at the Armed Forces Reserve Center.
