The South High School Performing Arts Department will present its seventh annual Battle of the Bands on Friday, June 2, at 7:30 p.m. in the school auditorium, 341 Lakeville Rd.
The concert will feature five live bands comprised of Great Neck Public School students who will each perform a 15-minute music set. Styles will range from classic rock to pop and alternative. Most of the South High students began their musical studies through Guitar Program, Music Technology, Symphonic Band or Jazz Band, though some learned independently.
The winner will receive a $100 gift certificate to Sam Ash Music stores and solidify their place in history on a plaque at South High. In addition to a panel of Great Neck teacher judges, the audience will participate in selecting the winning band.
