A cello quartet and a string quintet from Herricks Middle School were recently selected to perform in the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s Young Ensembles Concert. Orchestra Director Krista Weis coached the students prior to their acceptance. The quartet featured Dara Bao, Justin Koe, Kyle Pinzon and Justin Yang. Members of the quintet were Chiara Tan and Timothy Kim on violin, Christina Tsai on viola, Ludia Cho on cello and Daniel Navy on bass. This highly competitive program, consisting of two professional coaching sessions as well as the concert performance, selected only seven chamber music ensembles from the tri-state area to participate, and the Herricks groups were the only Long Island representatives.
