GCAC Summer Arts Camp Begins July 5

Looking for summertime activities that will entertain, educate and stimulate your child? The Gold Coast Arts Center (GCAC) offers a plethora of creative programs and full- and half-day camps that will appeal to children’s interests and abilities, while cultivating talent and boosting self-expression and self-confidence in a fun, safe and nurturing setting.

This July and August at the GCAC, children can learn to develop their skills while making friends and having a good time at specialty camps taught by artists and performers. The one- or two-week programs run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the GCAC’s 113 Middle Neck Rd. location.

Each weekly camp will culminate in a performance, competition or exhibit for parents and friends. And, children can enroll in as many sessions as they wish, with kosher and nut-free lunch and snack options included.

The full-day SummerArts Camp offers activities for ages 6 to 9 and 9 to 14, such as Acting for Film, in which children learn acting techniques by working on scenes that are performed and then recorded; Dance, Dance, Dance, where all skill levels are welcome to learn a variety of styles, including ballet, jazz, hip-hop, kickline and tap; and Cartooning, during which campers will develop basic drawing and storytelling skills, learn to illustrate their favorite cartoons and create their own characters and comic strips using ink and color. Other offerings include 3D Art, Applause Acting, Ceramics, Chess, Crafts, Drawing & Painting and Musical Theatre for Film.

The center’s Half-Day Junior Camp, for children pre-K to age 6, will fill a little one’s summer with art, music and dance, and features a new theme each week. Junior Camp runs from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and includes a snack. Additional programs, held every Wednesday afternoon, include Summer Primary Ballet & Tap for children ages 4 to 5; Fencing for kids 7 to 16; and Drawing, Painting & Ceramics for children ages 6 to 16.
