Jared Kaiman of Great Neck North High School won the 2017 Andrew Stergiopoulos Leadership Award, a prestigious honor presented by Stergiopoulos’s brother, George Stergiopoulos, during Great Neck North’s annual Senior Awards Night.

The Andrew Stergiopoulos Foundation is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to commemorating Stergiopoulos, a hockey player and former Great Neck student who
lost his life at the World Trade Center in 2001, by awarding academic and athletic awards and scholarships to students who exhibit the qualities that Stergiopoulos embodied—leadership, achievement, sportsmanship, diligence, empathy and vision. Each year, the foundation presents this award to an outstanding student from Great Neck North.
