14 Town Of Hempstead Cooling Centers Open This Week

hot sunThe temperature will probably soar into the 90s, and the humidity is high, combining to create unpleasant and potentially dangerous weather conditions for some residents. In response to Mother Nature’s hot and sticky climate, Town of Hempstead Supervisor Anthony J. Santino is opening 14 cooling centers across the town to provide a comfortable respite from the heat and welcome relief from weather-related health hazards.

Cooling centers are open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. commencing Thursday,
July 20 through Friday, July 21. The following is a list of centers available to the public:

 • Baldwin Senior Center, 1810 N. Grand Ave., Baldwin; 516-546-7110
