Manufacturer will bring 327 new jobs to Nassau
Nassau County Industrial Development Agency (IDA) once again has attracted a New York City-based manufacturer to the county, bringing more than 300 new union jobs that were likely to have gone to New Jersey.
“This is a major coup for the IDA and Nassau County,” County Executive Mangano said. “Our success in bringing New York City companies to Nassau County lies in both the tremendous effort by my economic development team, competitive real estate value, the attraction of great schools and the high quality of life enjoyed by our residents and, of course, a terrific workforce.”
Mangano said an economic compact approved Aug. 16 by the IDA will allow Delta Sheet Metal Corp., a manufacturer of sheet metal ductwork owned by New York City-based air conditioning and heating systems contractor PJ Mechanical Corp., to relocate to 74,000-square-foot vacant industrial space at 940 S. Oyster Bay Road, Hicksville. Delta, currently in Long Island City, employs 311 workers and plans to add another 16 jobs.
The project is expected to have an economic impact of $2.7 billion on the Nassau County economy over the life of the compact, and create $8.7 million in additional tax revenue to affected taxing jurisdictions over the life of the project.
Established in 1972, Delta Sheet Metal has since grown into a leader in the sheet metal industry. Its workforce is represented by Local 28 Sheet Metal Workers Union and Local 282 of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. The company had considered relocating to New Jersey.
