Three of the sweetest dogs are available for adoption this week, but don’t take my word for it. Head down to your local animal shelters for a meet and greet with this week’s top dogs: Berry, Dutch and Lindy!

Meet Berry. As sweet as his name, Berry (aka Mr. Huckleberry) is a friendly, sweet 1-year-old chocolate lab mix. He gets a glowing review from his foster mom.

“From the moment I met sweet Berry boy, I knew he would make a fantastic family dog,” she said. “He is about 45 lbs. and loves other dogs and people! This sweet boy is gentle with my 2-year-old son and 10-year-old small puggle. He knows his boundaries and does not jump or knock anyone over, even though he is still a young pup! 18660“Berry walks well on the leash with his easy walk harness, and is completely house trained,” she continued. “Berry loves treats, playing fetch, going for walks, and snuggling on the couch. This sweet boy lets you know when someone is at the door, but then is completely content to get back to snoozing. He would make a wonderful family dog and his forever family will be so lucky to have him. He’s a one in a million pup!”

If you’re interested in adopting Berry please go to furfriendsinneed.com to fill out an application. Please also note that Berry is available for a meet and greet this Sunday, Oct. 8, at Petco on 2752 Veterans Rd. in Staten Island from 12-3 p.m.

Dutch is the Town of Hempstead’s October Dog of the Month and for a great reason! This 6-year-old boy is famous for knowing a ton of commands, being house and crate trained and even playing well with other dogs! Dutch is sweet, gentle and quietly awaiting his forever family. He would do best in a home with teenagers. Please call for more information: 516-785-5220 or visit at him at 3320 Beltagh Ave. in Wantagh.

Lindy has been in foster care for a few weeks now and is doing great. She is completely housebroken, understands simple commands and is very easily trained because of her young age. Lindy will do best with a fenced-in yard and wouldn’t mind another dog in the house for company since her last home had a few. To boot, Lindy is pretty quiet and doesn’t bark unnecessarily—she even sleeps all night!

Lindy would truly make a great new best friend so if you’re interested in adopting, please go to furfriendsinneed.com and fill out an application.

As always, thanks for reading and please remember to always adopt, never shop…pass it on!
