The Great Neck Soccer Club Galaxy U12 boys’ soccer team won its second consecutive tournament this year on Saturday, Oct. 8. The first tournament victory was won on Sept. 2.

The boys won all the six games played in both tournaments. Most of the boys on the team have been playing together for the past four years with head coach Gary Gal and Great Neck Club trainer Harlon Smith.

The Columbus Day tournament was particularly challenging. The team won the first game in the pouring rain. Only five minutes into the third game, the team was down 0-2, but managed to regain its composure, come back and win the game 4-2.

The boys and the parents were elated. The teammates have enjoyed continuous support and dedication from the parents, which helps them shine.

Soccer proved to be an amazing sport for the kids’ athletic development, and it taught them discipline, teamwork and leadership. Their positive experience with the Great Neck Soccer Club will help increase the club’s recognition within the community.

The Great Neck Soccer Club offers intramural, pre-travel and travel teams for different experiences and ages. Kids can sign up for different program levels, based on their interest and commitment to the sport, starting from pre-K through fifth grade. Some of the club teams play all the way through high school.
