Steve Mosco went Hollywood in sitting down and chatting with Helen Slater, who attended school in Great Neck before finding fame as Supergirl on the big screen. Jennifer Fauci catches up with chef Donatella Arpaia, who recently opened up Prova Pizzabar, located at Grand Central Station in Manhattan. Jennifer got a chance to chat with Donatella about spending her summers in Italy as a child and her fateful decision to leave a career in law and become a restaurateur.
Jennifer also sat down with Dr. Andrew Jacono, a renowned local plastic surgeon who does pro bono work with Beyond Our Borders, an organization that focuses on working with children in countries like Colombia and Ecuador. The charitable spirit that is endemic to Great Neck can also be found via the local chapter of the Rotary Club, which Christy Hinko writes about in this issue. Joseph Catrone focuses on the community’s volunteer fire companies, which allow high school students a chance to give back.
