Looking for something to do this New Year’s Eve? Long Island has more to offer than you would expect. Avoid the crowds in Times Square, as if you would actually go there to ring in the new year, and attend an event closer to home.
Fishes & Wishes New Year’s Eve Party
Designed for the whole family to enjoy, the Long Island Aquarium is offering a cocktail hour, buffet dinner, live DJ, crafts and dessert bar from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. The event doesn’t go until midnight, but a mock-midnight champagne and sparkling cider toast will be available. Member prices start at $55; non-member prices start at $60.
Black Tie Gala at the Glen Cove Mansion
Travel back in time to ring in the new year Great Gatsby style at the Glen Cove Mansion. For $185, guests will enjoy a lavish night of cocktails, dining and dancing, complete with a champagne toast. The event runs from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., but interested couples can book a one or two night stay in one of the mansion’s rooms.
Gurney’s
For those looking to get as far away as possible from the madness in New York City, Gurney’s Montauk Resort is hosting a four-hour bash starting at 9 p.m. For $165 per person, food, an open bar, live music and casino games are just a few of the things Gurney’s has to offer this New Year’s Eve.
The Garden City Hotel
From 9:30 p.m. to 2 a.m., guests can spend a luxurious night at the Garden City Hotel, complete with a live band and “hangover exit station.” At $175 per ticket, admission includes the sounds of a live band, hors d’oeuvres buffet, carving station, dessert, open bar, hats and noise makers, and a champagne toast.
The Fox Hollow
Starting at 8 p.m., the Fox Hollow in Woodbury will be ringing in the new year with a full buffet cocktail hour, three-course dinner, open bar, live DJ, noise makers and a champagne toast. The night will even feature a simulated ball drop. Tickets are $165, but overnight couples packages can be bought starting at $649.
The Long Beach Hotel
If Montauk is too far for an ocean-side New Year’s Eve party, Long Beach is offering a cocktail party for $120 per ticket. From 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., guests can enjoy a three-hour open bar, hors d’oeuvres, gourmet food, dessert, live DJ, noisemakers, party hats and a champagne toast. The night will also have screens to show the iconic ball drop.
The Meadow Club
From 8:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., The Meadow Club in Port Jefferson Station will have everything from hors d’oeuvres and a four-course dinner to an open bar and champagne toast at midnight. A $125 ticket includes all of that plus screens to watch the ball drop, a balloon drop, noisemakers, coat check and valet parking.
