Believing in a cause and a leader, Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas attracted the first bi-partisan group of women to gather at the home of Charlene Prounis for the first fundraiser of her re-election. The inaugural event had the largest residential turnout to date with Nassau County Executive Laura Curran making a surprise appearance.
The event is women helping women, no matter what party affiliation, and included many of the movers and shakers that make things happen in the town, government and surrounding areas. Women from Manhasset, Port Washington, Sands Point, Syosset, Garden City, Baldwin Harbor, Merrick and nearby towns came to support another women and were excited to do it.
Singas spoke about her story coming to her present position and the road that got her there. She spoke with competence and decisiveness as to what needs to be done. She described her campaign against drug trafficking and the opioid epidemic and what she is doing to help the addicted receive treatment in a three-pronged program strategy of enforcement, treatment and prevention. She spoke about gangs and the ruthlessness of MS-13 on Long Island. In her first two years in office, she successfully captured and prosecuted the Northeast’s top MS-13 gang leader and has cracked down on drug trafficking.

“This was the first time for many women, so times are changing with women getting more involved in fundraising efforts” said Prounis, who was the CEO of her own successful marketing company. “Seventy women came out to to support another woman and were excited to do it.”
Singas was elected as Nassau County District Attorney (NCDA) in November of 2015 after working as Acting NCDA when Kathleen Rice took office as Congresswoman in January 2015. Singas will be up for re-election in 2019.
“Women for Singas is just getting started,” said Prounis. There will be a NuBest event in the near future. In the meantime, the group is looking for other women to raise their hand and offer their home or another venue or to join the committee.
