Support MWCABC Outreach programs
The Manhasset Women’s Coalition Against Breast Cancer (MWCABC) is now forming its team of walkers and volunteers for the upcoming LI2Day Walk to Fight Breast Cancer. The walk is a one-day half marathon, 13.1 miles along scenic Smith Point Beach and through the local neighborhood Saturday, June 9.
The Outreach Program of the MWCABC is one of the many beneficiaries of the LI2DAY Walk. Outreach greatly depends on the funds raised from the LI2DAY Walk to assist women in the area who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and other women’s cancers, as well as support prevention, wellness, and education programs. All of this money goes directly to Outreach, not research.
In 2017, Outreach helped with 120 breast cancer cases, 24 women with other cancers, and delivered more than 30 meals in addition to groceries, and offered multiple nutrition consultations; provided transportation, wigs, financial support, household help and wellness services. The non- and under-insured community was also helped through the MWCABC’s support of the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program and Nassau University Medical Center. The Outreach Program is on the front lines providing help to the women in need here and now. Last year the Outreach Program received $19,800, bringing the total received by the Outreach Program to $349,300 since 2005.
