The suspected car thief that allegedly fled from police while high on marijuana, causing the Valentine’s Day crash that killed five in Ridge, has been indicted on upgraded charges that include murder.

Jamal Turner pleaded not guilty Thursday at Suffolk County court to charges in a 42-count indictment that include five counts of depraved indifference murder, vehicular homicide, manslaughter and driving while high on drugs.

Authorities have said the 23-year-old suspect was driving a stolen 2018 Chevrolet Camaro eastbound on Middle Country Road when struck an eastbound Mazda and a westbound oil delivery truck.

The driver of the oil truck was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, but all four people in the Mazda were killed. So was a passenger in the Camaro.

Turner is due back in court May 25 before Judge Fernando Comacho, who ordered Turner held without bail.
