Brunching With Mom

On May 13, many Long Islanders will be spending the day with their mothers, celebrating her for raising them to be the people they are today. While giving your mother a physical gift for Mother’s Day is always nice, you should also consider taking her to a nice brunch as way to treat her.

Here are just a few of the many places that are open for brunch on this special Sunday.

Novita

Novita will host a special “We’ll Make The Sauce” Mother’s Day brunch buffet for mothers and their families from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Adults will also be served a complimentary brunch cocktail. Call to make reservations and to ask about a special Mother’s Day brunch menu to indulge in on this very special day.

Ocean Restaurant

Ocean provides you and your mom the opportunity to spend Mother’s Day looking out at the Long Island Sound. The buffet includes fresh baked goods, a salad bar, omelet station, seafood table and hot entrées. The bar will be serving a variety of drinks. There is also a kid’s menu and dessert to finish off your afternoon. Seating is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The View Grill

View Grill is providing a special Mother’s Day menu, and it all starts with a brunch buffet that goes from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. It was be at a fixed price of $29.95 for each individual. All of this is in addition to the view of the Glen Cove Golf Club and Dosoris Pond right outside the restaurant’s window.

Chat Noir

Chat Noir teahouse has a unique take on Mother’s Day. Enjoy “Black Cat Breakfast,” which includes Mimosas and a scone basket, with a choice of various breakfast items. The meal also includes tea as well. They also serve “Tuxedo Cat Lunch” which includes scones, lunch items and a pot of tea with dessert. Open from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.

Jam

If you are looking for a smaller establishment and have no more than six people
celebrating with you for Mother’s Day, Jam is your place. Jam serves breakfast and
lunch from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The menu includes omelets, salads, sandwiches and various other items.

Morrison’s

430 Woodbury Rd., Plainview; 516-932-8460; www.morrisonsny.com

If you want a pub experience for Mother’s Day, Morrison’s opens Sunday at 11 a.m. for brunch. The meals include eggs, sandwiches, griddles and other items. There are also a few cocktails to pair with your meal, including a “Pig + Pepper” cocktail that is a Bloody Mary with bacon, smoked paprika and a pepper rim.

Milleridge Cottage

The Milleridge Inn is providing a “Grand Lavish Buffet” at a fixed price on Mother’s Day. Brunch will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will also be open for dinner from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Outdoor entertainment will be provided from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., weather permitting. Reservations are required.
