Rotary Club Presents Richard Mooney With Paul Harris Fellowship Award

RotaryBellerose Rotary Club President, Tom Reilly, along with Rotarian and Floral Park Mayor, Dominick Longobardi, present 40-year affiliated member and past president Richard “MoonMan” Mooney with the coveted Paul Harris Fellowship Award. It is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a Rotarian, for upholding the ideals of Rotary International and its foundation, whose motto is “Service Above Self.”

Mooney Served his country during the Vietnam War as a combat veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He served his state for more than 30 years as a public servant, retiring as a New York State Field Parole Officer, supervising intense caseloads of predicate violent felony offenders released from state prisons to the counties and the communities of Queens and Nassau. He served his community as the past post commander of both the Floral Park American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. In addition, he has served for almost 40 years, as a Floral Park Volunteer Firefighter with the Reliance Engine Company #2.

The Paul Harris Fellowship Award is in recognition of his outstanding contribution to his community, state and nation, while adhering to Rotary’s highest ideal of “Service Above Self.”
