North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth, Councilmember Angelo Ferrara and town board members recently cut the ribbon on the brand new playground at Broadway Park in Garden City Park.

The Broadway Park renovations include brand new playground equipment, which is made with recycled materials. The special equipment is designed to look and feel like real trees. The new playground has two play areas, one for children ages five to 12 and the other for children ages two to five. The renovations also included the installation of an ADA accessible ramp to the playground area. Both playground structures are ADA compliant.
The community room was also completely renovated. Improvements include new walls with molding, a window and doors, a complete paint job, a water fountain, a ping-pong table and furniture.

“I am pleased we were able to renovate this lovely park with ADA compliant equipment and transform the community room, which is utilized by our young and senior residents alike,” said Bosworth.

“I’d want to thank Supervisor Judi Bosworth, Parks Commissioner Jill Webber and the Parks Department for working so closely with my office in making these significant improvements to Broadway Park,” said Ferrara. I’m sure the residents of the Garden City Park will be thrilled with the results to their neighborhood park.”

Additional work in the future at Broadway Park will include fence work and court resurfacing.

Broadway Park is one of three parks in the town that holds a free drop-in summer recreation program for residents until Aug. 17. For a full schedule of daily activities, visit www.northhempsteadny.gov/parks.
