smiling woman 1340662 1280North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the Town Board, are urging residents to support Small Business Saturday on Nov. 24, as part of a national effort to drive consumers to shop at local independently owned businesses on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

The town is a proud sponsor of Small Business Saturday, a joint partnership between Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP) and the Small Business Saturday Coalition.

“We encourage our residents to ‘Shop Small’ and take advantage of all the great businesses we have in our local downtowns,” said Supervisor Judi Bosworth. “Small Business Saturday has evolved into a community tradition which promotes our local economy. I hope that our residents support our small businesses every day and across the country.”

In 2017, over 7,200 neighborhoods champions across 50 states joined together to support Small Business Saturday. The Town of North Hempstead looks forward to joining in this effort once again. Since the inception of Small Business Saturday, an estimated $85 billion was spent nationwide at independent retailers and restaurants.

The town also reminds residents that many local small businesses offer discounts to our veterans through the town’s Veterans Discount Program. Participating businesses have a sticker identifying them as a participant in North Hempstead’s Veterans Discount program and are included on an online directory of participating businesses which can be found at www.northhempsteadny.gov/veterans or by calling 516-869-6311.
